Ode to Crosley with a thud, Riverfront Stadium here we come!

After pulling out an exciting comeback win Tuesday night, there was the hope that the first place Reds could leave the Grand Old ballpark known as Crosley Field with the fond memory of a win. But the streaking Giants were rude guests and demolished the hosts grand finale. Those with a bent toward nostalgia and trivia will note that Willie Mays and Willie McCovey knocked in four runs each in the end of an era. The Cincinnati club will soon forget this one as they head out for a three game jaunt in Houston before coming home to their shiny new, artificial turfed home on the riverfront to finish a season that has turned into a pursuit of the pennant.

So, goodbye Crosley, Riverfront Stadium, here we come! Gee, I hope the ballpark is finished by Tuesday.
