Reds beat the Atlanta Braves by the count of 8 to 2.

Jim Merritt(2-1) delivered a fine performance for Cincinnati. He was reached
for 7 hits and 1 walk in 7 and 1/3 innings. Cincinnati finished with 13 hits
while Atlanta ended up with 7.

Manny Sanguillen smacked 2 triples as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Houston
