In a two run game the Boston Red Sox got by the Baltimore Orioles by the score
of 7 to 5.

Jim Lonborg(2-0) was solid if not spectacular. He was reached for 9 hits and
no walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. Lonborg whiffed an impressive total of 7
Baltimore batters. Baltimore threatened in the 9th but their rally came up
short.

Vicente Romo earned his 1st save. Dave McNally(0-3) ended up with the loss.
He allowed 3 homeruns in 8 innings of work.

Earl Weaver was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
