ALCS Opener Goes to Birds




The postseason is under way as Baltimore invades Metropolitan Stadium to avenge last season's ALCS upset by the host Twins.

At Metropolitan Stadium the Baltimore Orioles outscored the Minnesota Twins 7
to 4.

Baltimore brought 6 runs across the plate in the top of the 7th inning when
they had 5 base hits. The key at-bat was by Ellie Hendricks who quieted the
crowd when he smacked a three-run homer (his 1st of the season). Both teams
totaled 9 hits on the afternoon.

Mike Cuellar(1-0) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Eddie
Watt gained credit for his 1st save. Jim Perry(0-1) ended up with the loss.
He allowed 9 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
