The two teams now travel to St. Louis for a Monday afternoon tilt. The hosts are now clearly in the driver seat with Bob Gibson taking the mound in yet another clinching situation. The St. Louis Cardinals nipped the Los Angeles Dodgers 3 to 2 at Dodger
Stadium in a hard fought contest.
Nellie Briles(1-0) had a solid outing for St. Louis. He surrendered 7 hits
and 1 walk in 6 and 1/3 innings. Los Angeles had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.
Jim Grant was credited with his 1st save. Don Sutton(0-1) was given the loss.
Although losing the contest, he whiffed 8 batters in 5 innings.
