A huge upset is definately in the air as the underdog Twins returned home to delight the Metropolitan Stadium crowd with a 4-0 blanking of visiting Baltimore. Bob Miller scattered six hits over 7 innings, while Al Worthington and Ron Perranoski hurled a scoreless inning each to complete the whitewashing. Cesar Tovar cracked a two run homer to double a 2-0 lead off Orioles starter Jim Palmer. |

Bob Miller(1-0) and Jim Palmer(0-1) locked horns in a pitcher's duel with
Miller and the Minnesota Twins coming out on top of the Baltimore Orioles 4
to 0.
Minnesota set the tone of the game in the first inning scoring a single run on
2 hits. After an out was recorded, Rod Carew doubled. After another out,
Harmon Killebrew stepped in and he slapped a base-hit scoring the run. That
early scoring was all that Miller needed. Minnesota had only 5 hits for the
game.
