Cardinals Scratch Out Win to take 3-1 Series Lead

October 15, 1969--St. Louis--Bob Gibson has approached immortality as St. Louis stands just one win away from a World Championship. The righty won his second game of the series, allowing just one run in a complete game effort. As if that was not enough, he also scored the winning run after legging out an infield hit and scampered all the way to third base on a two base error. Lou Brock followed with a single to plate the difference maker.
